We believe in a few simple ideas:
- Everyone loves to play and be entertained. We build games that anyone can play and enjoy.
- Direct to consumer platforms afford an opportunity to create games in collaboration with our audience in unprecedented ways.
- The best games are made by the best teams. We are building a culture and environment where the best people and teams can thrive.
Row Sham Bow is a new game development studio founded by a veteran team with deep industry experience. We are building the company that we’ve always wanted to work for. Our first game, Woodland Heroes (play it here), won 2011 Social Game of the Year on Gamasutra, and was just recently nominated for the GDC Online Awards in the Best Online Game Design category.

We are fascinated by the free-to-play space. After making and playing games for as long as we have, we find most of the games on Facebook to be more compulsive than compelling, and yet, gaming on Facebook has attracted an unprecedented, massive audience. Why is this? Part of the mission of the company is to better understand this phenomenon and find ways to bring FUN game experiences to this platform.
The observation, measurement, and analysis of audience engagement in direct-to-consumer games has changed how games are created and operated. The level of audience collaboration with game makers in this space creates an opportunity to build games that are uniquely tailored to individuals based on skill and interest. While many companies have pioneered how user data is used to operate live games, we believe there are enormous opportunities for continued technology and process innovation in this area.
